EECNWS SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

 

I. Each applicant must be sponsored by a member in good standing of the Emerald Empire Chapter Northwest Steelheaders (EECNWS).

a. A member in good standing is defined for the purposes of the Scholarship Fund to be a member for a minimum of 12 months and has not allowed their membership to expire beyond the 90 day grace period.

2. An eligible applicant is defined as a member or the member's relatives (spouse, son or daughter, niece or nephew, grandchild, step family or extended family).

3. The applicant must be accepted by an accredited junior college, college or university, or be presently in an undergraduate, graduate or post graduate program at same, prior to making an application for scholarship.

a. Awarded scholarship monies will not be transferred to applicant's account at the institute of higher learning prior to active enrol1ment~ and scholarship funds are to be available for applicants use for no more than 12 months from the June conferral date.

b. The applicant must be considered a full time student carrying at least 12 credit hours per semester or quarter.

4. Any accredited junior college or university/college is acceptable.

a. The accredited institution may be located outside the state of Oregon.

5. The applicant may apply as often as they like; however; they may receive a scholarship from the EECNWS Scholarship Fund only once.

6. Each applicant will be required to fill out and return an application form to any current officer or board member of the EECNWS.

7. Upon notice of scholarship award, the recipient shall supply the pertinent information necessary to deposit the scholarship money on account at the appropriate institution.

a. The scholarship money shall be used for books and tuition only. Room, board, food, etc. does not qualify.

b. Any fees assessed to EECNWS by the appropriate institution for overseeing the scholarship money in the applicant's account will be paid from the awarded scholarship.

8. In addition to supplying an application, each applicant will be required to appear before the EECNWS Review Board for an oral interview.

a. The Review Board shall consist of a minimum of 3 members in good standing and shall be appointed to this position by the Executive board.

9. Upon the Review Board's determination of more than one qualified applicant, the Review Board reserves the right to distribute the available scholarship money accordingly per their discretion.

a. If there are no qualified applicants, the Review Board shall roll the money over to the next year.

10. The Review Board shall not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, color, religion, marital status, financial status or national origin.

11. Review Board decisions are final.
