EMERALD EMPIRE CHAPTER NORTHWEST STEELHEADERS (EECNWS) SCHOLARSHIP POLICY
1. This document shall contain all policies pertaining to the EECNWS Scholarship policy, including but not limited to: statement of purpose, eligibility requirements, definitions, policy guidelines, review board guidelines, review board worksheets and scholarship application.
2. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The EECNWS Scholarship Fund is to be used for the sole purpose of benefiting the chapter membership and their families by providing assistance for their continuing education. This is done in recognition of the many volunteer hours donated to this club.
3. SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING: Funding for the Scholarship Fund will be obtained from a variety of sources, including but not limited to: donations from individuals and business concerns for the express purpose of the Scholarship Fund, events planned and executed by the EECNWS for the express purpose of providing monies for the Scholarship Fund.
4. SCHOLARSHIP FUND DURATION: The existence of the Scholarship Fund is totally at the discretion of the EECNWS, and the Emerald Empire Chapter reserves the right to cancel said program at any time. Any monies collected from individuals and/or businesses for the express purpose of the Scholarship Fund that may have not been distributed at the time of Scholarship Fund dissolution shall be returned. Any monies remaining at the time of dissolution of the Scholarship Fund that were collected as a result of club fund raising efforts shall be redirected to the chapter's general fund and distributed per Executive Board directive/approval.
5. SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Scholarship eligibility requirements are fully and completely outlined in Attachment 1 and shall be distributed to all interested parties upon request.
7. DEFINITIONS: For the purposes of the Scholarship Fund, the following definitions are in effect:
a. Extended Family: Any individual for whom the chapter member is or has been financially responsible.
b. Executive Board: Officers and voting board members of EECNWS.

APPLICATION FORM: The application form is included in Attachment 2 and will be distributed to all interested parties per request. EECNWS reserves the right to make changes to the application form per Executive Board approval.9. SCHOLARSHIP FUND DISTRIBUTION: Each year and prior to the acceptance of Scholarship Applications, the EECNWS Executive Board will detern1ine the total amount of monies available for possible distribution by the Review Board, and select members to serve on the Review Board. It is understood that the amount of money available for possible distribution may change from year to year and may be zero in some years. It is also possible that money may be available for distribution but that no qualified applicant may appear in which case the money will be available for distribution during the next application cycle. Application cycles will be on an annual basis as outlined below.
10. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION CYCLE: Scholarships will be awarded on an annual cycle under the following time table:
a. Applications accepted: April1 ~ to April 30th
b. Applicants interviewed/Evaluated: May I ~ to May 31 ~
c. Announcement of Scholarship Awards: June I ~ -June 7th
11. APPLICATION EVALUATION: Applicants are to be evaluated by the Review Board using a point system detailed in Attachment 4. A Review Board Worksheet (Attachment 5) will assist in this process, and each Review Board Member shall independently fill out a Worksheet for each applicant evaluated. Scores from all Review Board Members shall be added together to provide a total score for each applicant. The purpose for this point system is to provide a method of comparing applicants and aiding in the selection of qualified applicants. The decisions reached by the Review Board are final.
