Letz Creek Pond

Letz Creek Hatchery Pond April, 2002

Gary, setting up the fish counter. The fish will go through the pipe pass the counter and down into Letz Creek. Pulling the first board to let the water drain from the pond. The water is down a little. It will be a couple of hours before the water level is down enough for the fish to start to leave. Watching the water go down is more fun than watching grass grow. Not working yet.
Getting down to where the fish want to go into the pipe. All of the dark area in the water is consentrations of fish. Herding the fish out. Do not want any to get stuck in the mud. Deeper than it looks. Bless you my children... or something like that.
Patiently waiting for the flow of fish into Letz Creek. A lot of work goes into this moment. This is the end of the pipe. Ken and Mike. Keepers of the End of the Pipe. First smolt released, 2002. Should see these returning in 2004. At every party you have some folks that just don't want to leave.
Pulling out the last boards. Stragglers. The last bunch to leave the pond   Now we are in business. We are keeping watch on the health of the fish as they come out of the pipe.
Letz Creek Trap from up stream Everybody wants to see the fishy. This Letz Creek Hatchery Steelhead was released two years ago. Letz Creek Trap from down stream Salimander Egg Ball
